Hallettsville's Big Buck Contest


The Knights of Columbus Big Buck Contest is one of the largest buck contests in Texas. Hunters from around the state proudly present their prized bucks in a display encompassing an entire facility for a chance to win the contest. The Big Buck Contest attracts over 100 entries. There are five divisions: Lavaca County, State of Texas, South Texas, Lavaca County Youth & State of Texas Youth. Each year the contest culminates with the annual Knights of Columbus Wild Game Supper and Awards Banquet which is held on the third Friday of January. The wild game supper features deer, hog, squirrel, dove, duck, crawfish, wild rice, duck gumbo, Lavaca County sausage and Wesley Wild Sublime pinto beans. Attendees also have an opportunity to buy raffle tickets to win over $40,000 in various prizes, from guns to four-wheelers.
